PA612 nylon cable tie is a high-performance weather-resistant long carbon chain nylon. It features ultra-low water absorption, excellent UV resistance, low-temperature toughness, hydrolysis resistance and long service life. It is a premium preferred material for outdoor scenarios such as power grids and wind power, with performance between PA66 and PA12. Its outdoor service life can reach over 20 years.
1. Material & Core Characteristics
- Full chemical name: Polyhexamethylene Dodecanamide (PA612)
- Appearance: Black (UV-stabilized grade), translucent, flexible texture
Core advantages vs PA66
- Ultra-low water absorption: Equilibrium water absorption 0.6%~0.7% (PA66: about 2.8%), excellent dimensional stability in humid environments, no loosening.
- Superior UV resistance: Outdoor aging resistance is nearly 10 times that of ordinary black PA66 cable ties. Weather resistance is close to PA12.
- Excellent low-temperature resistance: Brittleness temperature -40℃, no cracking in cold northern wind farms and alpine outdoor conditions.
- Hydrolysis & salt spray resistance: Resists high humidity and corrosion, suitable for coastal and offshore wind power, salt-laden substation environments.
- High toughness: Tensile strength 60~70 MPa, high elongation at break, vibration and fatigue resistant.
Basic Specifications
- Melting point: approx. 252℃
- Continuous temperature range: -40℃ ~ 105℃
- Flame retardant grade: Available in UL94 V-0 (mandatory for power grid)
- Density: 1.02~1.06 g/cm³, lighter than PA66

Wind Turbine Nacelle: Vibration-resistant, flame-retardant and anti-aging, for fixing power and control harnesses; replaces standard PA66 with 3~5 times longer service life.
-
Tower & Overhead Line: -40℃ low-temperature resistance plus UV stabilization, no cracking or loosening outdoors for over 20 years; ideal for northern wind farms.
-
Substation & Switch Cabinet: UL94 V-0 flame retardant, low moisture absorption, stable insulation in humid conditions.
-
Offshore & Coastal Wind Power: Excellent salt spray and hydrolysis resistance; high-life non-metallic alternative to 316 stainless steel ties.
-
PV & Energy Storage: Industry certified for 20-year outdoor warranty, preferred for solar station wire fixing.
5. Main Brands & Purchase Inspection
Acceptance Standard
- Material: Pure black PA612 (not dyed PA66); provide material certificate and UL94 V-0 report.
- Temperature resistance: Marked -40℃~105℃; low-temperature areas require -45℃ test report.
- UV performance: Xenon lamp aging test ≥5000 hours without obvious embrittlement.
- Tensile strength: 7.6mm width ≥55kg; 4.8mm width ≥22kg.
6. Selection Guide
- General outdoor (3~5 years service): Weather-resistant PA66 — cost-effective.
- Long-term outdoor / alpine / coastal (20+ years): PA612 — best cost-performance, nearly equal performance to PA12 at much lower cost.
- Extreme low temperature (-50℃) / ultra-high standard: PA12.
